Choosing a stylish diaper bag that also suits you

You’re going to be a mum. And you’ll still be yourself.

Somewhere between researching pushchairs and preparing the first outfits, a nappy bag will come to mind. It’s one of those purchases you might not have thought much about until you consider how often you’ll use it.

On a walk. Visiting family. At that first coffee out with your baby by your side.

It only makes sense to choose a bag that you like too.

A stylish nappy bag combines a design that suits you with enough space and a practical layout for your baby’s essentials. When choosing, consider the colour, size, carrying options and how easy it is to clean.

1. Start with your own style

Do you love soft shades and a subtle look? Or are you drawn to checks, florals or a bolder print?

You don’t have to choose something completely different just because it’s a nappy bag. Look at the colours you already enjoy wearing. You’re more likely to happily carry a bag that complements them.

2. Think about a typical day

It’s difficult to choose a bag for ‘everything you might ever need’. Instead, think about an outing you’ll make often.

This will help you decide whether an organiser or a larger changing bag is the better fit.

3. Look at the layout and how easy it is to clean

Beautiful details will catch your eye, but you’ll notice the layout every time you open the bag. Check what compartments are available and whether they suit what you want to carry.

Also check the material and washing instructions for each specific model. Not every bag can be cleaned in the same way. A bottle pocket, extra compartment or detachable strap can be useful, but check each product to see which features it actually has.

4. Choose a bag you’ll enjoy carrying

You might be drawn to a model because it also suits your outfit without any baby essentials. In that case, pay particular attention to the design, carrying options and size.
