Every January, new lists are released showing the most popular names of 2020. We enjoy seeing these lists because we can also tell very well which names are extremely popular. This even varies by time of year! It happens every month that we say to each other; this name is the most popular name at the moment.

We compared the most popular names of 2020*  with our own figures.
*These top 10 figures come from the annual overview by the Social Insurance Bank; they see these figures through the payment of child benefits.

The top 10 girls' names of 2020:

1. Emma  (43x made)
2. Julia (47x)
3. Mila (54x)
4. Tess (51x)
5. Sophie (89x)
6. Zoë (46x)
7. Sara (34x)
8. Nora (42x)
9. Yara (28x)
10. Eva (56x)

I showed this top 10 (without the results from babyzus) to my sister and asked her which pacifier clip with name she thinks we have made the most of? Without a doubt, she said; Sophie! I thought of Julia, but Sophie still wins with us.

When you put the figures next to each other, it is super fun that 665 girls named JULIA were born in 2020. 47 Julias have a pacifier clip from us. So incredibly fun!

Another striking (new) girls' names that we have made a lot of in 2020 are LINA, LIV, KATE and lots and lots of double names with - LOU or - MAE. So who knows, we might see them return in all the lists next year!

Of course, a list with the top 10 boys' names will also be coming soon!

Love, Femke
